After Gossip

Api: (Walks briskly into the kitchen and slams the door looking flustered)

Applejack: (swiftly turns around from the kitchen sink to face Api) Whoa, howdy there sugercube, what's got you all bothered an all?

Api: Nothing Aunty, i'm FINE!!! (runs upstairs with tears in her eyes)

Applejack: Huh, well ok then.

Apple Bloom: (walks into the kitchen) What was that all about?

Applejack: Oh Api just got home looking real upset, and when ah asked her what was wrong she ran right upstairs crying.

Apple Bloom: (sigh's and looks upstairs) Right, i'll handle this (heads upstairs to Api's room)

Apple Bloom: (reaches Api's door and knocks) Api, it's me. (Opens door and finds Api pacing around her room in a state of panic)

Api: (Rambling none stop) OhWhyDidHeHaveToDoThatToMeWhatWasHeEvenThinkingWhatWasIEvenThinkingThisIsSoEmbarrassing...

Apple Bloom: API!!!! (stops hoof on the ground to get her attention.

Api: WHA!!!!! (stops rambling and turns startled to face Apple Bloom) Oh, Mom you scared me.

Apple Bloom: Yea ah kind of figured that. Anyway Applejack said you seemed upset so ah came to check on ya. Bad day at school?

Api: Well more like after really...

Apple Bloom: Wanna tell me about it?

Api: Not really.... (sit's on her bed with her head cradled in her front hooves.)

Apple Bloom: (sit's beside her and places a hoof around her comfortingly) Hey, talk to me. What happened?

Api: (sighs and looks up at Apple Bloom) Me and Icy and Nighty were talking. It started with me asking Icy about how things were going with him and Pixel, and then Nighty and ah started arguing about whether Nighty still loves Pixel or not. ( Quickly stops to take a deep breath and continues) Th..Then Icy pushed Nighty's face directly into mine and then (shudders and takes another deep breath) and then Nighty kissed me....On the lips...And ah got frightened and ran off.

Apple Bloom: Oh....

Api: Ah didn't know what to do, my brain just simply froze and ah couldn't think of anything other then running away.

Apple Bloom: ....So this Nighty, do ya like him?

Api: Well we've been good friends for about a year now since Icy introduced us to him.

Apple Bloom: That's not what ah meant Api, ah meant do you like like him?

Api: Well ah guess. Ah mean he's nice, funny, strong, a bit of a spaz at times, cute, handsome..(her face suddenly reddens in embarrassment)

Apple Bloom: So ya do really like him?

Api:...Yea

Apple Bloom: So what's the problem then? If he kissed ya then he must really like you back. Is that not a good thing Dahling?

Api: Ah guess but.... Ah just can't see us working out since i'm kind of....Beneath his league.

Apple Bloom: ....Er...Beneath his league? Not sure ah quite follow ya on that one.

Api: (sighs) Well it's just he's a Prince from Canterlot and i'm....Just a Farm Girl from Ponyville...A Peasant... Princes are not suppose to date or marry peasants, they go for other royals or members of High Society.

Apple Bloom: ....Api ah really don't think none of that matters...

Api: But it DOES, it goes against anything I've ever learned about romance.

Apple Bloom: API, just because some blow hard wrote in a book that two ponies of different walks of life can't get together does NOT make it true. If you and Nighty really like each other and really want to be with each other then that's all that matters. I'm sure Twilight and Flash will agree, and if any of these snobbish Canterlot ponies say differently then that's their problem.

Api: (sniff's) Ya think so?

Apple Bloom: Ah promise you Dahling, if Nighty really does love ya then he will love ya for who you are regardless of what the rest of high society thinks. That should really be all that matters here.

Api: Maybe you'r right (wipes tears from her eyes and hugs Apple Bloom) thanks mom.

Apple Bloom: (returns hug) No problem sweet heart, i'm always here for ya, ya know that.

Api: (breaks hug and glances outside) Ah guess ah better go find Nighty and apologize for running away like ah did, he's probably quite upset.

Apple Bloom: That's mah girl. (stands up from bed) and you might want to talk to your Auntie Applejack on the way out as well, ya kind of scared her with your dramatic entrance and all.

Api: Ah was not THAT dramatic was ah?

Apple Bloom: Dahling, if you were any more dramatic i'd swear you were related to Rarity and Pixel Bit.

Api: That's rich (starts heading out the door) from the pony who says "Dahling" all the time.
